ONE-ON-ONE LEADERSHIP: COACHING, COUNSELING, AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Program Description:
Leaders concerned with improving levels of performance and fostering a more productive work environment need to master one-on-one leadership, coaching, counseling, and communicating with others. They maintain flexibility and know how to stimulate others to be cooperative and work at their best through knowing when to be directive, when to coach, when to facilitate, and when to delegate.

A special feature of this workshop is an assessment and profile of your current one-on-one leadership skill levels. Additionally, there are practice sessions which allow you to apply practical techniques from the program to a real-life workplace situation as well as feedback and suggestions on improving your leadership style.

Workshop topics include how to diagnose developmental needs; how to maintain a flexible leadership style and adapt to the situation; helping your staff members solve their own problems; working with the poor performer and the problem person; the eight-step coaching model; planning one-on-one communication sessions; and implementing plans for improved performance.

This workshop helps you:

  • Develop skills in active listening, talking and responding, so you can confidently maintain your influence in any situation
  • Understand the dynamics of problem identification and solution, so you can act quickly and decisively and strive for a positive solution
  • Learn how to correct without criticizing, so you solve problems without arousing anger and resentment
  • Improve your ability to handle the unwilling and difficult person, so you minimize the stress to other team members
  • Develop skills in one-on-one leadership and coaching, so you know how to help employees improve their performance
  • Understand how to help employees become better problem solvers themselves, so you reduce the time and energy you spend assisting employees with their work
  • Learn how to coach your boss and peers to enhance your working relationships
